מאמר שלי ב-Strange Horizons

גרסה אנגלית של המאמר מאתר האגודה על חיפה בסיפוריו של לביא תדהר (שהוא גלגול של הרצאה מאייקון) התפרסמה היום ב-Strange Horizons.

  1. Hmmm. The way you discuss the presentation of Haifa in Lavie Tidhar's stories reminds me of London in a number of urban fantasy novels - Neverwhere being first and foremost, of course.

    It actually makes a lot of sense - Tel Aviv is too young to be an eternal, ever-hanging city, Jerusalem is too UNchanging, and so the only city in Israel around which you can build stories that layer realities and timelines and different lives is Hiafa.

    Also, I now have to go look up some of Tidahr's work, which I've never read...

    1. There are some parralels, the "layering" of realities is an obiuos one. I think the priblem with Jerusalem is that to some extent it's been done and redone. Lavie and Nir Yaniv did something interesting with Tel Aviv in "The Tel Aviv Dossier".

      As for Lavie hiself, I tend to preffer his sorter stuff. For me, he tends to get a little carried away with discriptions.
